Best Time to Visit
The ideal time for the Hampta Pass Trek is from June to October. During these months, trekkers can enjoy blooming meadows, snow patches, and clear views of the mountains. While May offers cold temperatures and some snow, September and October bring calm weather with vibrant landscapes. Be sure to check the weather forecast for safe trekking conditions.

Itinerary

•    Altitude: 2,050m to 3,048m
•    Drive Distance: 16 km (1 hour)
•    Trek Distance: 3 km (2-3 hours)
•    Difficulty: Easy
•    Highlights: Scenic drive through Kullu Valley, Beas River, and pine forests.
Begin your journey with a drive from Manali to Jobri, passing lush greenery and the Beas River. The trek from Jobri to Chikka leads through deodar and maple forests, alongside Rani Nallah streams. The trail is easy, offering views of grazing horses and blooming wildflowers. Camp overnight in Chikka.

•    Altitude: 3,048m to 3,600m
•    Trek Distance: 7 km (6-7 hours)
•    Difficulty: Moderate
•    Highlights: Jwara meadows, Rani Nallah streams, vibrant flowers.

Start by crossing a wooden bridge and trekking along Rani Nallah streams. The trail ascends gently, passing through maple forests and colorful meadows. Reach Jwara for a brief rest and lunch. Continue towards Balu Ka Ghera, where you'll camp amidst serene surroundings, near snow-covered mountains.

•    Altitude: 3,600m to 4,200m (Hampta Pass) to 3,900m
•    Trek Distance: 9 km (7-8 hours)
•    Difficulty: Difficult
•    Highlights: Steep ascents, snow patches, and stunning views of the Spiti Valley.

This is the most challenging day of the trek. Begin early, navigating steep, zigzag trails and rocky terrain. After a rigorous ascent, reach Hampta Pass, offering panoramic views of the Lahaul Valley. Descend through loose, sandy paths and boulders to Shea Goru, where you’ll camp near a glacial stream.

•    Trek Distance: 6 km (3-4 hours)
•    Drive Distance: 75 km (3-4 hours)
•    Difficulty: Easy
•    Highlights: River crossings, Spiti Valley views, and Chandratal Lake.

Trek downhill through rocky trails to Chatru, a scenic spot in the Himalayas. Cross the Chandra River, a thrilling experience. From Chatru, drive to Chandratal Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters and surrounding beauty. Spend time exploring the area before returning to Chatru for an overnight stay.
 

•    Altitude: 3,350m to 2,050m
•    Drive Distance: 60 km (3-4 hours)
•    Difficulty: Easy
•    Highlights: Atal Tunnel, Spiti Valley views, and farewell to the mountains.

Drive back to Manali, passing the stunning landscapes of Lahaul and Spiti. Cross the Atal Tunnel, reaching Manali by noon. Conclude your trek with unforgettable memories of the Hampta Pass and Chandratal Lake.
